Vaillancourt fountain

This is the Vaillancourt Fountain which is located in San Francisco. It is located near Embarcadero Center. This fountain was commissioned by San Francisco. It was created by Armand Vaillancourt. It is his most well known sculpture. This can fall under the category of public art. It is made of concrete and most of the time is working. It is also known as Quebec libre. This artist wrote the words "Quebec Libre!!" on the sculpture to signifiy his support for the Quebec government and freedom for all people. I feel that this sculpture is significant because it really expresses creativity. I also like it because I have seen in many times being from the bay area. It really evokes abstract ideas. It is the abstract shape and numerous angles combined with water that make this sculpture really unique. Many people have come to see this sculpture because it is such a well known piece of art. It is also interesting because it is unlike most fountain, which have nice smooth curves and are thought to be elegant.
